2018-2019 round up

It’s great to see so many children attending the after-school clubs. They really enjoy the activities and are developing their skills well. Ellis, from our cluster partnership, has now worked with all the year groups. He is working well with all the children and offering excellent CPD for the staff.

Some special mentions to groups of children who have been out working hard, representing West End this term.

Our Year 4 children in Heron and Dove class competed at the annual skipping competition, held at Trinity University. We were so proud of how the children conducted themselves at the event, showing both enjoyment and skill. They performed so well that many of the children collected gold, silver and bronze for individual events. Overall the children came 3rd in the competition.

Our boys and girls football teams in KS2 are playing well in their individual leagues. They’ve had a lot of success and we are looking forward to seeing more in the summer term.

Some of the children in Year 5 have been competing in a tag rugby festival. This was their 1st competition and what a competition! All their games were exceptionally close, which resulted in a place in the final. It was a well fought game beaten only by 1 try.

Finally, we have seen great success in in a well-established cross-country event. 25 children from KS2 represented West End at the North-West Cross-Country event. Fantastically, we progressed to the regional final at Temple Newsam. From this, 8 children qualified for the West Yorkshire City Final stage. Individual runners qualified within the top 30 whilst our year 6 boys team showed determination, grit and a real team spirit.
