Relationships and Health Education
Our comprehensive PSHE curriculum, supports our children in developing the skills to be able to make and maintain healthy relationships. We follow a scheme of work which teaches about emotional and physical health, keeping safe and looking after ourselves, changes and how to cope with them and knowledge of first aid. Through group and class sessions as well as nurture work in school the children learn valuable life skills. See the policies section of our website for our RSE and PSHE policy and the link below to learn more about the statutory requirements from the DFE
Resources for Parents to Support Their Child's Mental Health and Wellbeing
If your child is struggling at the moment there are lots of simple things that you can do to help. Please remember that you are not alone and there is plenty of help available. In school, our PSHE and nurture groups are often used to address general concerns or more specific ones. To assist you at home we have attached some pictures and strategies suggested by CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)
Try out some of the strategies and ideas.
If you require further support please contact school.
Additionally, Horsforth Children's Services offer one-off advice sessions, parent support courses and 1:1 parent support should it become necessary. A referral for this support can be made through school. In high-need cases there is an option for a short block of counselling for your child. Their Facebook page is a great source of up to date advice.
In some cases a referral to CAMHS or another agency may be the best way to support you and your child. This is something that school can support with.
