West End School Council meet regularly to discuss upcoming events, fund raising ideas and how the pupils can participate in the everyday life of the school.
School council gives every child a voice!
School Council is made up of pupils from Reception to Year 6. We have a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Communications Officer and Treasurer. The children love the various roles of managing the meetings, putting information on the school website, composing letters, counting money and arranging events.
Two pupils from each class are elected by their peers to represent them at the School Council Meetings. Four of our Key stage 2 pupils attend the Horsforth Cluster Council Meetings, where seven Horsforth Schools meet to discuss and represent the views of pupils in Horsforth.
We support lots of national and local charities including Children in Need and Red Nose Day, St. Georges Crypt and The Horsforth Food Bank and The Real Junk Food Project.
As the role of our school council has grown so much over the last few years; this year we have created additional sub committees of our council and are proud to welcome the following additional teams:
Our subcommittees will be responsible for further developing their areas of expertise and continue to use pupil voice to improve our school.
At our last meeting the children were asked about what they liked about school council and they said - " I like the chance to say what I think" " I like taking part in assemblies" "Everyone's voice is heard" "I like coming to the meetings, they are fun" "I liked counting the money" "I like to give ideas."
