Well, what a fantastic day we had at the Leeds North West School Sport Partnership KS2 Cross Country Festival. The sun was shining and the children were on top form!

10 children from each of the year 4, 5 and 6 classes competed against schools from all over North West Leeds to earn a place at the City Finals in the winter school games at the Leeds Becket University later this year.

I’m proud of all the runners today as they really put their heart and soul into their group races. As I watched them come up the final 50 metres of their 1,500m race you could see the determination in each of their faces.

A special mention must go to the Year 4 boys and the Year 6 girls who earned themselves a place at the Leeds City Finals. Watch this space for news of their progress...

We've had a super start to the football leagues, with the Year 4 and Year 5 teams playing away at Newlaithes Primary School.

The Year 4 team had a convincing win of 8-2, whilst the Year 5 team battled hard to equalize making the final score 4-4. Well done to both teams, a wonderful afternoon of football, with the children demonstrating great skill and sportsmanship!

Thank you to all the children at West End for kick starting our new ‘1K a day’ health initiative with a Festive Fun Run. The children all looked great and we had so much fun; walking, jogging, running and signing. Merry Christmas!

The year 5 children really enjoyed the Basketball festival at Prince Henry's High School. They narrowly missed out on a place in the finals. Well done Macaw class!

Congratulations to our cross country competitors who represented West End at the city finals. All the runners ran fantastically, under very difficult weather conditions. A special mention must go to our year 6 team, who qualified into the regional final at Temple Newsam.

The year 6 teams really enjoyed the Hockey Tournament at Weetwood Sports Centre! Again, showing the best qualities of West End both on and off the pitch. It was great to see quality hockey, as well as brilliant sportsmanship, manners and fair play!
