GOVERNING BODY OF WEST END PRIMARY SCHOOL SEPTEMBER 2017

Staff Representatives (1)

 Mr A Kelsey

I am the year 3 class teacher and have worked at West End Primary for the past 10 years. In my time at the school I have had the pleasure of working in many of the year groups, however, the majority of my teaching career has been in Years 2 and 3. I am the PE and Maths subject leader in school and have a key role, alongside other staff members in driving the creative curriculum forward. I have a real passion for supporting the young people in school and I feel West End is a truly nurturing, safe and exciting place for the children to learn, where the staff are committed to their wellbeing.

I enjoy spending all my spare time with my wife of 10 years and 3 children, who are also of primary school age. We enjoy walking, sports and playing in the park. There is nothing more important to me than family and so I feel teaching and parenthood go hand in hand. I have recently been appointed as the staff governor and I’m really looking forward to the challenges ahead of me.

LEA Representatives (1)

 Ms S Burnet

I am a Local Authority Governor, appointed to West End Primary School in May 2012.

I have an extensive career within the financial services industry covering a diverse range of roles including marketing, communications, project management, strategy and property management. Along with a robust commerical and financial understanding, I also have a background in leadership and people managment and feel I add a different dynamic to the governing body of the school with my skills and experience.

I live locally and have always been passionate about the local and wider Leeds community. I am an extremely ambitious and results driven individual which I hope add value to the governing body at West End.

Community Representatives  (5)

 Mrs L Whitfield

I was elected as a Parent Governor in 1996. When my youngest child left West End in 2002 I stayed on as a community governor and I am still here!

I have 3 sons, a lovely daughter in law and 2 gorgeous grandsons. I work as a Finance/Office Manager for an optical company in Yeadon. In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, reading, spending time with family and friends and being a governor at West End.

West End is an excellent school where every child matters, achievements are recognised and celebrated, staff are hard working, committed and a strong partnership exists between children, staff, parents, governors and the wider community. I feel privileged to be able to support the school and to be part of a team that gives every West End child the best possible opportunity to achieve everything that they can.

 Mrs K Arbuckle

I am a former Horsforth Town Councillor and a member of the Horsforth Civic Society and the Craggwood & Residents Group. I am a former teacher, SEN co-ordinator and child protection officer which are roles that have provided me with key skills that I bring to my role as a governor at West End Lane School that I have held for a number of years. I have 2 adult children who now live in Canada.

Ms J Pattison

I have been a community governor at West End since 2015 and prior to that I was a parent governor at the school between 2010 - 2014. My two daughters both attended the school with the youngest leaving in 2015. I have lived in Horsforth since 2000 and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the West End community taking part in many school trips and PTA activities.

I have worked in local government for a number of years and am currently a manager with Leeds City Council. I work on a range of initiatives that help improve service delivery in local neighbourhoods as well as having responsibility for delegated budgets, the development of projects, monitoring and delivery of performance and asset and project management. I am also a volunteer with The Princes Trust, a national charity that supports young people.

 Mr I Scott

I have been a governor at West End Lane School since 1975, I am the chair of the Resources committee, a member of the premises committee and the governor with particular responsibly for health & safety and mentoring. I am also a Horsforth Town Councillor, which is a role I have held since 1999. One of my focuses as a governor has been to improve the facilities to further enhance the learning environment at the school. In my spare time I am a keen walker.

Parent Representatives (4)

 Mrs R Rogers

I am a mum of two children at West End Primary and moved into the area in early 2012. Professionally I am a lawyer focusing on knowledge and training provision for the Global Legal team of a large bank. I split my time between the Leeds and London offices.

I am a member of the curriculum and staffing committees and very much enjoy my role as partner Governor to the class that started at West End Primary in 2012. I am very committed to the West End area and wish to help the school and its children in a constructive way.

 Mr A Rowles

I have two daughters at West End School and I became a governor to try and represent the views of parents whilst supporting the fantastic work of the staff. My wife and I have lived in Horsforth since 2008 and enjoy the strong community that surrounds us.

Professionally I work within a specialist area of banking across Yorkshire and the North East of England.

I enjoy cycling and running, although not to any great standard, and love to spend as much time as possible with my family. I thoroughly enjoy accompanying my children on school Welly Walks and cheering them on at Sports Day.

 Mrs R Montgomery

I have 2 children at West End Primary and am delighted to have the opportunity to support the school as a parent governor.

Professionally, I am a Partner in the Disputes Resolution Team of a Yorkshire law firm. I also volunteer as a mentor, for Mosaic, a Princes of Wales Trust charity, aiming to create opportunities to bridge the aspirations-attainment gap of young people in deprived communities.

Out of work, I Iove spending time with my family, walking, cooking and music.

 Mrs V Jennings

I have three children aged 11, 8 and 6. My eldest is now at Horsforth School and my younger two are at West End. I have learnt a lot about the school over the years and I really appreciate the work that the school, and all of the staff, do for the children and the parents. As a result, I wish to contribute to this good work, and make a positive contribution to children's education and overall school experience.

I work part-time as an accountant and team manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ advisory practice, and have done so for 16 years.

I have over the years helped out at school with reading and activities, and have really enjoyed getting involved – this has meant that over time I have developed a keen interest in the school. I believe that the skills I have developed, in my career and as a parent, will help in my contribution as a governor.

Outside of work and spending time with my family, I enjoy drawing, reading, exercising, including adult ballet. I am very involved in my daughter's dance school and my boys football club activities.
