Reminder - staff training day Friday 20th October - school closed to children.
Week commencing 16.10.17
We have completed our newspaper report and published it using our computer skills. The results are brilliant! In SPaG we have learnt more about pronouns and practiced writing sentences which use first, second and third person pronouns. We have also thought about when to use possessive pronouns. We are enjoying using our reading journals and responding to our reading by selecting different tasks to complete which show our understanding.
Our mathematics has focused on converting measure amounts to the same unit to help us solve worded problems. We have also begun to look at scale factors and how these apply to ratio. We have complete reasoning questions to apply this understanding.
Also this week: we have chosen different media to create self portraits; completed our designs for our desert habitat board games; designed out own fantasy creature based on the Jabberwocky and begun to write nonsense poems using this as our inspiration.
Homework this week
- Please keep practising the Y3/4 statutory spellings moving on to the Y5/6 ones when your child is ready. The children have worked in pairs to test each other on these spellings and have highlighted a sheet to show which ones they need to work on.
- check out https://www.spellzone.com/games/bouncing_anagram/index.cfm?wordlist=7957&speed=2 for games to learn these spellings
- Your child will know which times table/s they are working on over the half term. Please practise these ready for testing after the break.
- In your child's homework folder there is a grammar exercise and maths revision work to consolidate our learning from the week.
