Year 3 Nightingale Class
Nightingale Class is a happy, busy, fun and friendly classroom where we work and play well together. We are always nice to others and enjoy making friends. We will always have a smile on our face and help where we can.
We love working in our classroom areas, creating models, exploring construction and doing arts and crafts to support our learning and reading from a vast range of books.
Nightingales have been very busy this week preparing for their class assembly. They have all worked extremely hard learning their lines and shown lots of enthusiasm in their singing.
In English they wrote recounts of their school trip to the Yorkshire Showground. Children thought carefully about what to include in their writing and their recounts were full of powerful vocabulary, interesting conjunctions and exciting punctuation.
In Maths children started to learn about multiplication methods and looked at the most efficient method to use when solving multiplication problems. They will continue with this next week and will beginning to look at how they can use the column method when answering multiplication questions.
They have continued looking at animals in Science and have played the role of archaeologist this week. Children were given pictures of different animal skeletons and had to match the skeleton to the animal. Some of these were easy, like the snake, some were a little bit more tricky and had children asking questions such as "What is the difference between a chicken and bird?" Children really enjoyed this challenge and learnt lots about different types of animals.
Swimming is on Friday and PE is on Tuesday and will be outdoors. Please ensure children have the correct kit - football kits are not to be worn for PE lessons in school.
Class Assembly - 15/06/18
Please see your child's red times table folder for their current times tables and the red spelling books for this week's list.
Children have been assigned tasks on Literacy Planet, which they have explored during their E-suite sessions. Children have the same log in details that they have used for Word Mania.
The green homework books have been given out with the options for our new topic; "The Aztecs" (also see link below), which is to be handed in by Thursday 12th July.
