Through history we develop a knowledge and understanding of our cultural inheritance and the events and people who shaped life as it is today. Children learn skills such as the use of artefacts and how to gather information from evidence; about cause and effect; and how events impact upon each other. History is brought to life through visits to different locations, such as Murton Park to spend the day in character as a Roman or a Viking or to Temple Newsam House to learn about the Tudor Period. We also have visitors to school, such as World War II veterans, who came to talk to the children about their war time experiences and to explain about Remberance Sunday.
